My research focuses on the interaction between psychological processes and genetic factors and how this contributes to the experience of pain. Specifically, I am examining whether the effects of gratitude on pain outcomes are altered based on individuals' COMT genotype. Currently, I am conducting research using a brief gratitude writing intervention to determine its effectiveness as a nonpharmacological intervention to reduce pain as well as the negative psychological and physiological responses to painful stimuli.
